The beauty of the bay seems to always be balanced by the relentlessness of the wear and tear the water causes on everything near it. This painting is meant to portray the way the water has the power to soothe our soul while also having the force to so easily destroy. This is a way of life on the shore. Sometimes it's over the course of years, other times the changes come suddenly with rough weather and destructive tides. However the changes happen, the water is always there and the memories of our good times remain.
 
This painting was inspired by a photo Karen snapped of the remains of our community pier. A stormfront had just passed through leaving this gorgeous light and she was moved by all the memories of days gone by. Thoughts of crabbing, playing, and just hanging out on this pier with family- some who have grown up and moved away and some who are no longer with us.
