What started as a tour of Kent Island, MD, where we live became a hunt for interesting subjects to paint. Our cameras were out all day snapping beautiful scenes around the island as reference photos for possible future paintings.
At the Historic Stevensville Train Station I became so much more interested in the tertiary objects on the grounds of the station, including the old gift shop painting on my site, and, of course, this outhouse. There is just a lot of character in it, and the budding trees in the background in early spring were just perfect to let so much of the beautiful sky pop through them.
Never underestimate seemingly mundane subjects. With a fresh view even an outhouse can be interesting!
